Introduction to Mould Making

INTRODUCTION TO MOULD MAKING: Materials and Process

This workshop is suitable for complete novices of the mould making process. Emphasis on two piece moulds and basic plasterwork techniques.

Saturday Feb18: 10am - 3pm
Saturday Feb 25: 10am - 2pm

Studiostone; 1760 Vernon Drive (near 2nd and Clark Ave)
Accessible by bus # 22 and a short walk.
Southbound stop #51287, Northbound #51352
Free parking near the studio.

Costs: $135 plus $25 materials fee.
Payable by cheque or in cash before the start of the first session.

Students should bring a simple object with few details and undercuts; apples are a good example in size and simplicity.
You might also want to bring lunch and wear ‘studio’ clothes. Mould making is a somewhat messy process and your clothes will get dirty.

The first Saturday will be hands on production of a two part plaster mould; the second Saturday will be focused on preparing and casting into that mould. Discussions during the sessions will help with problem solving, technical details of materials and their handling and other mould making techniques and casting materials.

Instructor: Veronica Aimone
Working out of Studio Stone for 3 years and previously at the Art Institute of Capilano University, working under George Rammell.
Registration: by email to Veronica, aimonev@gmail.com
